Decadence (Poem)

A country in decadence, morals in decline,

Sonya Massey shot, a tragedy to remind.

By a policeman tainted, with demons in his eyes,

Injustice echoes loud under darkened skies.

A leader charged with crimes, given a standing ovation,

In American Congress, a twisted celebration.

The world is watching, seeing values fall,

Morals slipping away, like a forgotten call.

The whole world sees your decadence unfold,

Where once stood principles, now hearts grown cold.

May God’s blessing rest on students, voices brave,

University hearts that know how to save.

We say no to genocide, free Palestine’s cry,

In the memory of Sonya, may justice never die.

God bless her memory, a light that must remain,

For justice for Sonya, we call out in pain.

Police brutality, killing innocent lives,

Army committing war crimes, where humanity strives.

 Government’s illegal acts, building on stolen land,

What has the world turned into, can we understand?

Carrying out satan’s deeds in shadows, they move,

But justice must prevail, the truth we must prove.

No matter what is said in Congress or the halls,

Guilt is clear, as decadence calls.

May the voices rise against the darkness we see,

For a world of justice, for you and for me.

Decadence must end, let the light shine through,

For the memory of Sonya, for what is right and true
