A Prayer for those Suffering (Poem)

As we close the chapter of another year,
We acknowledge the pain, the loss, the tears.
2023, for many, a time so harsh and dire,
Filled with the consequences of human ire.

To those in Gaza, feeling the weight of strife,
To souls in Congo and Sudan fighting for life,
We see your suffering; it’s not in vain,
We hear your cries; we feel your pain.

The heart of man can harbor darkness so deep,
Leading to actions that make humanity weep.
It’s a reflection of a spirit so low,
In need of light, in need of growth.

We pray for a spiritual awakening wide,
For encounters with the divine, to be our guide.
May 2024 bring a change, a new dawn,
With peace and blessings to be drawn.

To the powers that be who’ve caused such pain,
Your actions have brought nothing but shame.
You don’t deserve the seats you hold,
God’s judgment will be strong and bold.

Children and people, precious in His sight,
Deserving of love, of life, of light.
To those we’ve lost to wicked hands,
We’re sorry we couldn’t meet your stands.

In a better place, may you find rest,
Know that in memory, you’re forever blessed.
We pray for healing, for peace to mend,
For a world where love will transcend.
Amen.
