Before There Was Matter, There Was a Voice

The opening words of Scripture reveal a profound truth:
Creation did not begin with matter.
It began with the voice of God.
Before mountains stood in their majesty…
Before oceans filled the earth…
Before stars illuminated the heavens…
There was a voice.
The voice of the Creator.
That truth is beautifully captured in this statement:
“Before there was matter, there was sound. Before there were planets, there was a voice.”

Creation Began with God’s Word
The opening chapter of The Holy Bible repeatedly declares:
“And God said…”
Light appeared.
The heavens were formed.
The earth took shape.
Life began.

The universe itself bears witness to the authority of God’s Word.
His voice did not merely describe reality.
It brought reality into existence.
The Creative Power of the Word
Words possess remarkable power.
They build relationships.
They communicate truth.
They inspire courage.
They shape cultures.
Human words can influence lives.
God’s Word, however, carries creative authority beyond human capability.
His Word reveals His will, His character, and His purposes.
It continues to guide, comfort, strengthen, and transform those who receive it.
The Word Still Speaks Today
God’s voice did not become silent after creation.
Throughout Scripture, He speaks words of guidance, promise, correction, encouragement, and hope.
His Word reminds us that we are not abandoned.
It calls us toward wisdom.
It strengthens faith.
It renews perspective.
The same God who spoke light into darkness continues to speak peace into troubled hearts and hope into difficult seasons.
Speaking Life
As people created in God’s image, our words also carry influence.
While our words do not create the universe, they can encourage or discourage, build or tear down, heal or wound.
This is why Scripture encourages us to speak words that bring grace, truth, and life.
Every conversation becomes an opportunity to reflect the character of the One who first spoke creation into being.
Listening Before Speaking
In a noisy world, it is easy to become distracted.
Yet spiritual growth often begins with listening.
Listening to God’s Word.
Reflecting on its wisdom.
Allowing it to shape our thinking.
As our hearts become aligned with His truth, our own words gradually begin to reflect greater love, wisdom, and compassion.
Healing Through God’s Word
Throughout the Bible, God’s Word is repeatedly associated with restoration.
It brings hope to the discouraged.
Direction to the uncertain.
Comfort to the grieving.
Strength to the weary.
Healing is not merely physical.
God’s Word also brings renewal to the mind, peace to the heart, and restoration to the soul.
His voice continues to breathe life into people who are willing to receive it.
The Invitation
Perhaps today you need more than information.
Perhaps you need to hear God’s voice again.
Not through fear.
Not through confusion.
But through the timeless truth of His Word.
The same voice that called light from darkness still speaks hope into despair.
The same Creator who formed the universe still calls people into purpose.
Before there was matter, there was a voice.
And that voice still invites us to trust, to believe, to grow, and to live with hope.
Because God’s Word is not only the beginning of creation.
It remains the foundation for transformation.
