Fasting from Social Media (Poem)

In a world where voices crowd and clash,

Amid the flicker, the scroll, the flash,

A call resounds, deep and clear,

To silence the noise, to draw near.

Not just the body hungers for a fast,

But the soul, too, seeks respite vast.

From the feast of images and words that bind,

A fasting of another kind.

Social media, with its endless stream,

Can drown the Spirit, a relentless dream.

Manipulations, unseen, unfelt,

Infiltrate the space where peace once dwelt.

It’s time to pause, to break, to breathe,

To ask for grace and thus receive

The strength to step back, to retreat,

From the virtual world’s incessant beat.

Fasting from the media’s grasp,

A challenge, a mission, a heartfelt task.

To clear the clutter, the chaos, the noise,

And find within the Spirit’s voice.

Go within, to that sacred space,

Where silence speaks with gentle grace.

Spend time solid with the Holy Spirit,

In quietude, His whispers, hear it.

In this fast from digital consumption,

Find restoration, renewal, assumption

Of a higher call, a deeper connection,

Beyond the screen, divine direction.

For in this quiet, this deliberate pause,

We realign with our sacred cause.

To live not by the feed’s demand,

But by the guidance of a higher hand.

So, take this time, a sacred fast,

From social media, let it be cast.

And in its place, let there be light,

The Holy Spirit, bright and right.

May this fasting bring clarity, peace,

As the grip of virtual worlds may cease.

And in their absence, may we find,

A closer walk with the Divine.
