In the hush of night, a whisper’s plea,
“Strive to enter through the door so free.”
But many wander their own path to seek,
Blinded by works, the truth they fail to speak.
The door shuts tight; the Master’s decree,
Outside, they stand, knocking eagerly.
“Lord, open to us!” they cry in despair,
But His response echoes through the air.
“I do not know you,” His voice does say,
For they strayed from His path, went astray.
Though they claim familiarity near,
Their hearts were distant, filled with fear.
“We dined with You, walked in Your light,
We heard Your words in the dead of night.”
But the Master’s gaze holds no recognition,
Their deeds of folly, their true disposition.
In sorrow and pain, they’ll weep and moan,
As they see, the righteous welcomed home.
Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, prophets of old,
In the kingdom’s embrace, their stories are told.
From east and west, north and south,
They’ll gather ’round, at the heavenly mouth.
But some who seemed first will find themselves last,
Their deeds of faith, in shadows, cast.
So heed the call, while time’s still near,
Enter the door, cast away fear.
For in the kingdom’s eternal glow,
Only those who truly know will know.
