Reflecting 2023 (Poem)

As we stand at the year’s twilight, looking back, taking stock,
Reflecting on the lessons learned, the trials, and the clock.
We journeyed as spirit beings in a human, earthly guise,
Seeking wisdom, seeking truth, under the vast skies.

Our spiritual activity, a beacon in the night,
Guiding us through rough seas, towards the light so bright.
It takes discipline, yes, a consistent, steady hand,
To nurture the soul’s growth, to understand.

The effort we put into our spiritual life,
Makes our eyes discerning, cuts through strife.
Sharpening our ears to hear the Holy Spirit’s call,
Guiding us gently, helping us stand tall.

Our disciplined spiritual life, a shield, a protective wall,
Keeping us from enemies, helping us not to fall.
Into the kingdom of darkness, where shadows dwell,
Our spiritual vigilance, our protective spell.

For some, this year brought insight, a deeper view,
Into their earthly purpose, their mission truth.
A reminder that we’re here for a reason, each one,
To shine our light brightly, like a radiant sun.

Beware the contamination of purpose, the darkness that can creep,
Into hearts unaware, into the deep.
Always choose Jesus, always choose light,
For in His presence, everything is made right.

As we reflect on 2023, on all that’s been,
Let’s carry forward the lessons seen.
With spiritual eyes sharp and ears attuned,
We’ll walk into the new year enlightened and immune.
