The Holy Spirit helps us on our spiritual awakening journey 3
Before I start on the wisdom of God formed in us, I want to emphasize that we are created in the image and likeness of God.
We can see this in the Book of Genesis, 1:26 Then let us make man in Our image according to Our likeness and let them have dominion.
Using The First Mention Principle: “God indicates in the first mention of a subject the truth with which that subject stands connected in the mind of God.”
According to the Voice translation, it reads, Now let Us conceive a new creation—humanity—made in Our image, fashioned according to Our likeness. And let Us grant them authority over all the Earth—
In case some of you are wondering what the verse means by Us, the amplified version helps answer the question in its version of Genesis 1:26,
Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness], and let them have complete authority
God then formed us from dust in Genesis 2:7.
In other words, God created us before he formed us.
Going back to Genesis 1:26, it says in our image and likeness.
Now is God is a Spirit – (image) we are spirit; according to the Christian faith, we must be born again before we can come into the mysterious awareness. John 3:21 Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the Kingdom of God.
Let’s look at some definitions:
- Likeness – as the fact or quality of being alike; resemblance.
- According to – as in conformity with (Merriam Webster)
We were created before we were formed in our mother’s womb, and as God told Prophet Jeremiah, He (God) knew us before we were formed in our mother’s womb.
Reading between the lines from the old testament and the new testament, I believe we are created once (our soul), but we could be formed in several wombs at different times.
For instance, when Jesus asked His disciples who do people say I am, they said John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah, one of the Prophets, if you noticed, Jesus never rebuked their theology but said who do you say I am? Then Peter said. You are the Christ.
I know folks will be saying, yea how about Hebrews 9:27, which says it’s appointed for man to die once then the judgment.
Notice the verse says it is appointed for MAN, to die once, but what we have failed to realize we are not Man, we are soul and spirit. The flesh (man) dies once, but the journey of our soul continues until we have fully awakened into the image and likeness of God.
To prove my point, we know that the Bible said Elijah would come again before the Messiah came. To Bible scholars, you will agree with me that Elijah didn’t come as Elijah, but came as John the Baptist with the power and spirit of Elijah.
I saw a verse in the Bible yesterday that I have never seen before and its Psalm 17:15b (NKJ)
I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness.
Therefore we have to awaken into God. This is the purpose of every Christian. A lot of folks in the Church and just doing religion, most of them are fast asleep.
The devil deceives folk into the wrong objective, create a name(the folks sell their soul – stupid and dumb) for yourself, and die like a mere man. – People die still asleep, that is a waste.
It’s the greatest deception in the history of man, and many people are still falling for the trick – what would a person give for the exchange of his soul? Our soul is to prosper and not to be SOLD.
As we have recognized that Jesus Christ came to save and awaken us so that Christ (the Power and Wisdom of God) is formed in us.
There is NO way we can awake without the Holy Spirit; even the Spirit of Wisdom is a gift of the Holy Spirit. To awaken in God’s likeness, we need the Power & Wisdom of God. Everybody will agree that the source of power is from the Holy Spirit, but how do we get the Wisdom of God formed in us?
Several practical ways are to pray in the Holy Spirit (Tongues) regularly and meditate on wisdom verses in the Word of God.
Let’s look at a few verses on wisdom:
Job 28:28
Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding. (NKJV)
Psalm 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have a good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise. (NIV)
King David, at his best, understood what life was about, and we see this in Psalm 17.15b – I will be satisfied when I awake in your likeness, this sum’s up our purpose here on Earth. It’s doesn’t stop here, but King Solomon shared with us the advice his father King David gave him in regards to wisdom – in Proverbs 4
Let’s read Proverbs 4
A Father’s Instruction
Hear, O children, the instruction of a father,
And pay attention [and be willing to learn] so that you may gain understanding and intelligent discernment.
For I give you right doctrine;
Do not [a]turn away from my instruction.
When I was a son with my father (David),
Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother (Bathsheba),
He taught me and said to me,
“Let your heart hold fast my words;
Keep my commandments and live.
“Get [skillful and godly] wisdom! Acquire understanding [actively seek spiritual discernment, mature comprehension, and logical interpretation]!
Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
“Do not turn away from her (Wisdom) and she will guard and protect you;
Love her, and she will watch over you.
“The beginning of wisdom is Get [skillful and godly] wisdom [it is preeminent]!
And with all your acquiring, get understanding [actively seek spiritual discernment, mature comprehension, and logical interpretation].
“Prize wisdom [and exalt her], and she will exalt you;
She will honor you if you embrace her.
“She will place on your head a garland of grace;
She will present you with a crown of beauty and glory.”
Hear, my son, and accept my sayings,
And the years of your life will be many.
I have instructed you in the way of [skillful and godly] wisdom;
I have led you in upright paths.
When you walk, your steps will not be impeded [for your path will be clear and open];
And when you run, you will not stumble.
Take hold of instruction; [actively seek it, grip it firmly and] do not let go.
Guard her, for she is your life.
Do not enter the path of the wicked,
And do not go the way of evil men.
Avoid it, do not travel on it;
Turn away from it and pass on.
For the wicked cannot sleep unless they do evil;
And they are deprived of sleep unless they make someone stumble and fall.
For they eat the bread of wickedness
And drink the wine of violence.
But the path of the just (righteous) is like the light of dawn,
That shines brighter and brighter until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day.
The way of the wicked is like [deep] darkness;
They do not know over what they stumble.
My son, pay attention to my words and be willing to learn;
Open your ears to my sayings.
Do not let them escape from your sight;
Keep them in the center of your heart.
For they are life to those who find them,
And healing and health to all their flesh.
Watch over your heart with all diligence,
For from it flow the springs of life.
Put away from you a deceitful (lying, misleading) mouth,
And put devious lips far from you.
Let your eyes look directly ahead [toward the path of moral courage]
And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you [toward the path of integrity].
Consider well and watch carefully the path of your feet,
And all your ways will be steadfast and sure.
Do not turn away to the right nor to the left [where evil may lurk];
Turn your foot from [the path of] evil.
We all have a choice with whom we follow and serve, but let me leave you with the Words of Joshua, As for me and my house we shall serve the Lord, and our primary objective is to awake to God’s likeness.
To seek the Light (Kingdom of God) and awaken in God’s image and likeness will not come without a fight.
The Kingdom of darkness will attack you with all they have, but just remember Christ – the Power & Wisdom of God is sufficient to help you along this journey.
An important truth to remember is that the Kingdom of God, suffers violence, and violence takes by force. (Matthew11:12) So Lets be STRONG and fight the good fight of FAITH. Amen
