This is not Democracy (Poem)

If leaders stand to represent the voice,
Then they must listen; it’s their conscious choice.
This, my friends, is not democracy’s grace,
It’s a crazy demonstration, a twisted chase.

Leaders who favour harm to mothers and children,
It’s a sign of a world that’s deeply ill-ridden.
Without a ceasefire, they don’t represent the mass,
People march for peace in the thousands, en masse.

If leaders turn deaf to the call of the crowd,
They shouldn’t be leaders; their actions aren’t proud.
Resignation might be the path they should take,
Leaders must listen for the people’s sake.

All we’re demanding a two-state solution’s embrace,
To find lasting peace in this challenging space.
Let diplomacy rule, let wisdom take its place,
For peace to prevail in our world’s daily race
