Walk Away (Poem)

You’re gonna have to do what’s best for you,
Even when it feels like chains, you’re breaking through;
Understand what you tolerate and allow in your life;
Define the path where joy or sorrow will thrive.

When someone shows you who they truly are,
When someone’s indifference leaves a lasting scar,
When manipulation and confusion take hold,
It’s time to be brave; it’s time to be bold.

Walk away, though it may pierce your heart,
For in the pain, a brand new start,
There’s a bond, a tie that you comprehend,
But self-respect whispers it’s time to mend.

You can’t let them trample your heart’s terrain;
No more letting their unhealed wounds cause you pain;
it’s not fair to you, and it’s not fair to them, too.
Take a stand for yourself; let your strength shine through.

Sometimes, walking away is the only way,
Not for revenge but to reclaim your day;
You didn’t lose them; remember this truth:
They lost the treasure that was once their youth.

Walk away from what brings darkness, not light;
No need to explain, no need to fight; it’s your life,
Your journey, your quest; choose what brings happiness,
And let go of the rest.

Be strong, let go of what’s causing your strife,
Have patience, and embrace the blessings in life;
Your current situation is a mere fleeting sum.
The best is yet to come; the journey’s just begun.
