What is Love (Poem)

In the forest of life, like vines intertwine,
Love, a flame, from the wood divine.
Offered to the fire, a sacrifice so rare,
Burning bright, an eternal flare.
Patient and kind, a virtue so pure,
Love is a cure that will endure.
Not envious, nor boasting in pride,
In the heart, love does confide.
Not rude nor self-seeking in its quest,
Love, a gentle breeze, a comforting rest.
Slow to anger, quick to forgive,
A boundless reservoir in which we live.
Learning from the trials, the tests we face,
Love is a guide through life’s intricate maze.
Doesn’t delight in the shadows of wrong,
Champions truth, in the soul, a song.
A shield against darkness, love’s protective might,
Trusts in the day, hopes in the night.
Perseverance, the anchor through stormy weather,
Love, an unwavering tether.
Never failing, a constant refrain,
In the heart’s melody, an everlasting gain.
True love, a divine connection,
Rooted in the Holy Spirit’s affection.
No fear resides where love takes hold,
For God, in love, His story is told.
Perfect love, a reflection divine,
Knowing God, where love does shine.
Wisdom accompanies love’s gentle flow,
Not gullible, discerning what we sow.
In the pilgrimage of our earthly stay,
Love guides our steps, lighting the way.
Recognizing the voice, the whisper within,
Love, the compass, steering from sin.
In the oppressed, a champion’s glove,
True love, the discernment from above.
Between right and wrong, it draws the line,
In the battlefield of the soul, a valiant sign.
Distinguishing good from the deceitful sequel,
In the grand tapestry of life, love is the needle.
