The phrase “Ask and it’s given” is a profound truth woven into the fabric of spiritual and universal law. When we ask, what we seek is immediately given in the spiritual realm. However, there’s a critical distinction: being given is not the same as being manifested. Manifestation requires alignment, action, and the ability to steward the power within us. Understanding and applying this principle is key to unlocking the abundance promised to us.
The Nature of “Given”
When we ask, God, in His infinite wisdom and love, provides the answer or the solution instantly. The Scriptures remind us that God is able to do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Ephesians 3:20). This verse reveals an important equation:
The magnitude of what God gives = God’s limitless power × the power at work within us.
This means that the power we cultivate and maintain within ourselves directly influences what we are able to receive and manifest in our lives.
Matching the Power of Your Desire
To physically see the manifestation of what has been given, we must match the vibrational frequency of our desire. This is not merely a matter of positive thinking but involves:
- Faith: A deep, unshakable belief that what you’ve asked for is already yours.
- Peace: A state of inner calm that allows you to hear divine guidance and avoid resisting the process.
- Gratitude: Actively expressing thankfulness, which aligns you with the frequency of receiving.
When we align with these principles, we position ourselves to transform spiritual provision into physical reality.
The Power Within Us
Our internal power is a divine gift, a measure of God’s Spirit working in and through us. Yet, this power is not static; it can grow or diminish based on how we nurture it. Practices such as prayer, meditation, and immersing ourselves in God’s Word are essential to maintaining and increasing this power. Conversely, neglecting spiritual practices, harboring negative emotions, or engaging in activities that drain our energy can siphon this power, leaving us vulnerable to spiritual attacks.
The Reality of Spiritual Warfare
“The kingdom of God suffers violence, and the violent take it by force” (Matthew 11:12). This verse highlights the spiritual warfare that exists in our lives. The enemy seeks to undermine our power, planting doubt, fear, and distractions to prevent us from realizing our potential and receiving what has been given.
To be victorious, we must become spiritual warriors. This doesn’t mean physical aggression but developing a mindset and spiritual discipline that enables us to stand firm against opposition. Being spiritually violent involves:
- Bold Prayers: Prayers that declare God’s promises and take authority over situations.
- Resilience: Standing firm even when circumstances seem contrary to your desires.
- Discernment: Recognizing spiritual attacks and countering them with truth.
Protecting Your Power
Experience teaches us the importance of guarding our power. There are several ways to ensure our spiritual energy is protected:
- Set Boundaries: Be mindful of relationships, environments, and activities that drain your energy or distract you from your purpose.
- Stay Rooted in Truth: Regularly renew your mind with God’s Word, which strengthens your spirit and equips you for battle.
- Practice Gratitude: Gratitude is not just a response to receiving; it is a proactive tool that keeps you aligned with God’s blessings.
- Engage in Worship: Worship magnifies God’s presence in your life and fills you with the power to overcome challenges.
Aligning with Divine Timing
One of the most challenging aspects of asking and receiving is trusting in God’s timing. While we may want instant results, the manifestation process often involves preparation. God is not just concerned with giving us what we ask for but ensuring we are ready to handle it. Delays are not denials but opportunities for growth, refinement, and alignment.
Gratitude as a Force Multiplier
Gratitude is a spiritual force that accelerates manifestation. When we express gratitude, we are essentially affirming our belief that we have already received what we’ve asked for. This shifts our focus from lack to abundance, creating a fertile ground for manifestation. Start each day by listing things you’re thankful for, both big and small, and watch how this simple practice transforms your perspective and opens doors.
Faith in Action
Faith without works is dead (James 2:26). While believing is essential, it must be coupled with action. Taking steps, even small ones, toward your desire shows God and the universe that you are serious about receiving. These actions don’t need to be grandiose; they simply need to align with your faith. For instance:
- If you’re praying for financial freedom, start by managing your current finances wisely.
- If you’re asking for better health, adopt healthier habits.
- If you desire a deeper relationship with God, prioritize time in His presence.
Becoming a Co-Creator
God has designed us to be co-creators with Him. By aligning our thoughts, emotions, and actions with His will, we actively participate in bringing heaven to earth. This partnership requires humility, obedience, and trust. When we surrender our timelines and expectations to God, we create space for His perfect will to unfold.

Asking and receiving is a divine process that requires faith, alignment, and action. While what we ask for is given instantly in the spiritual realm, the manifestation depends on the power we cultivate and the steps we take to align with God’s promises. By maintaining peace, expressing gratitude, and protecting our power, we position ourselves to receive exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think.
