Before You Sleep (Poem)

Before you close your eyes at night,

After the end of the day’s last light,

Remember to bow your head and pray,

And ask the Lord to guard your way.

Recite the words of Psalm 91,

A shield of faith when the day is done.

“In His shadow you will find rest,”

In His love, you are truly blessed.

The wicked may target, lurking unseen,

In the darkness where fears convene.

But with God’s promise, you’ll never be alone,

His angels guard, His power shown.

“Under His wings, you’ll find your shield,”

His truth is your fortress, your wounds He’ll heal.

Though shadows may threaten in the deep,

His peace surrounds you as you sleep.

Give time for your meal to settle and rest,

Avoid heavy feasts before you nest.

For a peaceful night and a tranquil dream,

Let your evening be calm, like a gentle stream.

So before you drift to the land of dreams,

Whisper a prayer, and let His light beam.

With Psalm 91 as your nightly song,

In His embrace, where you belong.

For in His care, no harm can come,

His protection sure, under His wings night long

Before you sleep, seek His holy might,

And rest assured in His love each night.
