Always Traps (Poem)

When we embark on a spiritual rise,
To align with the Divine and open our eyes,
The journey upward, though filled with grace,
Is fraught with traps to slow our pace.
The old self whispers, “Come back, stay,”
But we must move forward, come what may.

The old mindset cannot remain,
When the spiritual mindset stakes its claim.
Two worlds can’t dwell within one soul,
We must choose the spirit to make us whole.
The past will pull, it will always call,
But to ascend, we must let it fall.

Be like Jacob, whose eyes were set,
On things divine, not earthly debt.
Not like Esau, whose fleeting desire,
Burned out quickly, a shallow fire.
The secular world, so loud, so vain,
Irritates the soul that seeks God’s reign.

So let go of the past, let it be,
Embrace the spirit, walk free, walk free.
Though the traps persist, though the road is steep,
The rewards of ascension are eternally deep.
