Enemies Defeated, Thank You God (Poem)

In the shadowed valley, I stood firm, prepared,
Pursued my enemies, their fates declared.
Not a step back was taken till they were dispersed,
In the battle’s echo, my resolve rehearsed.

With strength, You girded me for the battle’s rage,
Under my feet, You subdued their page.
Those who rose against me, forced to bow and yield,
On the battlefield, Your protection is my shield.

They turned their backs in flight, but escape was naught,
Cut down in their retreat, their destruction wrought.
Cries for mercy echoed to the heavens cast,
Unanswered, they faded into the past.

Like dust before the wind, I scattered them wide,
As mire in the streets, they could no longer hide.
Delivered from strife, to prominence, You led,
Nations now bowing, their fears widely spread.

Foreign voices whisper obedience feigned,
Their strength was lost in shadows, their pride now stained.
Trembling, they emerge from their strongholds drawn,
By Your mighty hand, their defiance is gone.

Blessed be the Lord, my Rock, my salvation’s song,
Exalted be God, who rights my every wrong.
Avenger of my cause, subduer of my foes,
Above all adversity, Your power shows.

From violence delivered, lifted high above,
Your justice, my anthem, Your grace, my love.
Among nations, I’ll sing, Your praises will I tell,
For in every battle, You made my heart swell.

Thank You, O my God, for the victory won,
For enemies defeated, and battles done.
In Your strength, I stand, Your love my guiding light,
Forever will I sing of Your might.
