The Challenge is REST. 2

Let us look at Hebrews 4.11 and see how important it is to be in God’s REST ( BE IN PEACE)

 Hebrews 4.11

The New King James Version: Let us labor, therefore, to enter into that rest, lest any man fall according to the same example of unbelief. 

We are going to look at some other versions:

Amplified version 1 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience [as those who died in the wilderness].

 Classic Amplified edition Let us, therefore, be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience [into which those in the wilderness fell].

Let us look at the emphasis placed on Hebrews 4.11 and how important it is, first. Let’s define the word LABOUR.

Collins dictionary defines Labour as very hard work.

In the Amplified version, it says LET US MAKE EVERY EFFORT.

In the Classic Amplified is says LET US BE ZEALOUS and Exert ourselves and STRIVE DILIGENTLY TO ENTER THAT THE REST OF GOD. 

The classic amplified edition with the other versions and the meaning of the word LABOUR is helping us realize that the REST we are seeking is not as simplified as it seems. 

To quote Matthew 11.28 without indicating its importance(the why) and the how does not do the verse any justice. 

How to enter into God’s Rest

We have to be Zealous, Exert ourselves, and strive diligently by:

1. Seek God early in the morning. (Praying). 

2. Renew our mind with the word of God daily

3. Mediating on God’s promises daily.

4. Using Technology – (Food for one’s SOUL recorded on MP3 on Smartphones and listen regularly).

Like Prophet Daniel in the Bible, some folks are surrounded by enemies, hence practicing the presence of God is essential, and in doing this, we are in the ZONE and can hear clearly, and the Holy Spirit can whisper the plans, plots, and schemes of our enemies. 

It is fair to say that a lot of Jesus’s teaching was completed by His Apostles.

 Example: Jesus said we need to have Faith. He didn’t tell us HOW to get Faith.

 Apostle Paul now said it comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. 

Apostle Jude said we must pray in our MOST HOLY FAITH – TONGUES.

Jesus said, come to me all you that are heavily burdened,  and I will give you rest, BUT HOW?

 We come to Jesus by filling our minds with the things of the Spirit. ( The mind is the battlefield).

The attacks from the enemy are to disconnect our alignment with God, to disrupt the PEACE. In other words, for a person to fret.

 The Epistles complete the teachings of Jesus. Jesus said to seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6.33)

 What are all these things – I would say the abundant life Jesus came to give. Apostle Paul completed the verse by saying with many tribulations; we MUST enter the Kingdom of God. ( Acts 14.22) God gave the latter verse after a night of attacks.
